After my float down the Colorado River in the afternoon, I came home and relaxed for a little while. About an hour before sunset I decided to head out and do a little mountain biking near home. Not too far away is a part of the Old Spanish Trail, and it’s open to bikes, so I headed over there for a short and easy ride as the sun was setting. I took a few photos along the way…
The shadows were starting to get long when I started.
Old Spanish Trail
Plenty of signs along the way to keep you on the right track.
It’s a pretty desolate-looking area….and only a few miles from home.
Part of an old road through the badlands….the Grand Mesa peeking up in the background.
The trail connected up with the Gunnison Bluffs Trail for a little bit where I had a view down onto the Gunnison River.
Grand Valley View
View of the Grand Valley from where I turned around. I could have gone just a little further, but would have just ended up in a subdivision.
On Sunday night we went to watch the Grand Junction fireworks show and I took a few photos…here’s a few of my better ones.
We were originally planning on heading to Arches National Park today so we could hike to Delicate Arch. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate with us, so we ended up staying home. After having some breakfast, Amanda remembered that it was the first Sunday of the month, and that the Western Colorado Botanical Gardens offers free admission today. It was a great opportunity to play with my new lens. Here’s some of the photos I took on our trip there.

Last night Amanda and I headed out to Grand Junction’s annual Parade of Lights on Main Street. We found a spot at 4th and Main to watch and take some photos. Here’s a few…

Grand Junction had their annual Parade of Lights down Main Street this evening. Amanda and I decided to check it out and I brought my camera to practice in the dark. Here’s some pictures from the evening…
