I’m in the midst of researching a tripod setup for my shiny new Canon 6D and found your post to be most helpful. I wasn’t initially expecting to pay quite so much, but I’m starting to realize it makes the most sense to invest in quality upfront.

This is off topic, but I’m wondering if you mind sharing some details on how you carry your camera while backpacking? I’ve tried on a few of the chest harness style bags and find them to be quite awkward (I’m pretty small, it’s just a lot of bulk to be carrying in front for me!). In the past I’ve attached a top-load style bag to the side of my pack down by my hips. While that setup allowed me to access my camera quickly and without a lot of fuss, attaching it to the hip unbalanced me and caused strain in the joint. Care to share any thoughts?

I also want to quickly tell you that your photos are astounding and very inspirational! After taking a look at your blog, I’m so motivated to get out there and enjoy this magical planet.
