Strike Ravine

Strike Ravine (Moab, UT)

Strike Ravine is an easy to moderate trail that winds it’s way through the terrain around Area BFE which lies south of Moab. There are a lot of roads and trails that criss-cross the area which makes this trail hard to follow without a good GPS track if you are not familiar with the area. Since there are a lot of trails in this area, there are also a number of ways you can run this trail and create alternate loops making it easy or hard. When I ran Strike Ravine, it was lead by Alex, and he runs it a bit differently from the normal Easter Jeep Safari route and how Charles Wells describes it in his book.

This area has a lot of remnants of it’s mining history including some mine adits and old cabins. There are also great views of the La Sal Mountains along this trail. The trail gets it’s name from a section where the trail crosses Strike Ravine. If you are looking for more of a challenge along this trail, there are a number of trails located in Area BFE than can keep you busy, such as Green Day, Minor Threat and Helldorado. Also beware, that some of the roads in this area cross private property, so make sure to respect their rights when you cross their property.
