That’s right! I am finally getting out of the Chicago area and Midwest. I have been working on moving to Western Colorado for a while, and finally managed to land a good job out there in Grand Junction.
The last day at my current job is March 14th, and the start date for my new job is March 24th. I will be moving sometime in between those dates. Luckily, I have already managed to find a place to live for a while.
I will post updates as the move progresses

There’s been a few issues with my 2000 that I have needed to take care of for a while. The biggest issue being my pinion angle being a little off. I spent some time in the garage today and was able to take care of that.
Of course, while I was working on that, I found a few other things I need to take care of, so my Jeep’s probably going to be apart for a few more days.
Here’s a few pictures.
Installed RE shackles for a slightly higher lift in the rear to even it out. Getting ready to pull the axle.

Setting up the perches again after cutting them off the axle tube

Perch welded back on

Cover was leaking oil and the axle shafts need to be removed. That’s how I left it for the night.

Just a quick update from this weekend. I managed to get my rock rails back on the Jeep finally, after having to remove them for the stiffeners I installed back in December. I could have easily just welded them to the stiffeners, but I wanted them to remain removable. Here’s the solution I came up with. It seems to have worked well

You may have noticed the lack of pictures from my wheeling trips and working on my rigs this year so far. Well, to be honest, I have kinda not had the motivation to work on either of my Jeep’s much this year so far, even though I need to do so….badly.
Not sure if I’m burned out right now or not…..but hopefully I will get back in the swing of things and get moving again.

Just got back from spending all day at Zach’s shop with a small group of friends. We spent most of the day working on Doug’s Jeep.
Here’s a few pictures from the day

Now that I have my new HTC Tilt (that just so happens to have a built in camera and GPS), I can finally play around with a technology that I have been wanting to for a while. Geotagging. With this phone, I am able to take a photo and have the GPS coordinates logged in the EXIF data so that I can map where the photo was taken.
Here’s my first test photo taken in the parking lot at my office uploaded to Panoramio:

Too bad the camera on the Tilt isn’t the greatest….but it will still be fun to play with until I get a better camera with a GPS built in
Placing these geotagged photos into Google Earth along with some geocaches found and GPS tracks from my trips might make for a nice presentation of the trip. There’s a lot of cool possibilities with with technology
Now if only Canon would make a point & shoot camera with a built in GPS….

Ended up picking up a new phone since I got such a great deal on it. Grabbed the new AT&T Tilt. It’s a little bigger that I am used to carrying around, but I think the features of this phone will be worth it.
With the built in GPS and Windows Mobile 6 operating system, I’m hoping it will make paperless geocaching a little easier for me, since I won’t have to carry two devices when I go out. It will also make it easier to do some quick caching in my free time.
I’ll definitely let you know how well it works for me for geocaching once I have a chance to try it out

That’s right! It has been exactly one year since I brought my 2000 XJ home for the first time. Here’s the original post.
It’s amazing what I managed to get done to it in the last year, and the places I went with it.
Hopefully this next year will be another good year of wheeling for me, and I will get to explore a lot more backroads

Today (well actually November, but it hasn’t changed much since then):
