We were originally planning on heading to Arches National Park today so we could hike to Delicate Arch. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate with us, so we ended up staying home. After having some breakfast, Amanda remembered that it was the first Sunday of the month, and that the Western Colorado Botanical Gardens offers free admission today. It was a great opportunity to play with my new lens. Here’s some of the photos I took on our trip there.

I finally filled a gap in my lens lineup today with the arrival of my new Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS lens. Up until today, the furthest reach I had was with the 18-55mm lens that came with my camera. Now I finally have a telephoto lens! I ended up going with this one because it compliments my 18-55mm well and it’s priced pretty well, too

One of my goals for this year is to work on improving my photography. I have been looking at some 365 day photo projects recently and thought that doing one myself would help me get out there and help improve my photography by getting out everyday and shooting some photos.

For my 30th birthday, I am going to start my own 365 day photo project, where I will be taking and posting a photo everyday of my 30th year on this planet (Well, I will try to post them daily, but if I don’t have time or am out of town, they may be delayed a few days). Over the course of this year I will work on different types and techniques of photography. I’m sure that not all of my photos will be great, but I hope to continuously improve and try new things over the course of the year. Hopefully I can manage to keep this project up for the full year.

I just got back a little while ago from my first skiing class at Powderhorn. I’m happy to report that I survived and had a good time. Only two more days to go!

The winter/snow boots I ordered last week came in today. I ended up getting the Merrell Snowmotion 8 lace-up boots. They fit me very well and are very comfortable. I’m hoping to give them a good workout this weekend both hiking in the snow and also doing some snowshoeing. Hopefully the Polartec keeps my feet warm

The weather warmed up a little bit today and the snow we got last week finally started to melt. After Amanda and I got back from a short jog, I figured I’d make a quick snowman in the backyard since the snow was perfect for it. While I was making it, Amanda ran inside and grabbed one of my cameras. It was getting dark out, so the pictures aren’t that great….but here’s a few anyways
