A few pictures from Moab…

Here’s a couple of pictures from this weekend to hold you over until I have a chance to make a full trip report later this week :)

Also, if you haven’t already checked it out, the SPOT tracking page seems to have worked well while we were away this weekend, and it tracked my location pretty well. Check it out at the ‘SPOT Me’ link at the top of this page.

The new SPOT in action…sending our OK message and campsite coordinates :D

Do you have to buy a monthly subscription to SPOT? I saw on your map that it updates every 10 minutes. That sure would give you a lot of points if you took a 5 day trip!

There is a yearly subscription required for the SPOT. Up until last Friday there was a deal that if you bought the subscription, you got the device for free (that’s what I did).

For basic service it is $99/year, and if you want tracking it is an additional $49/year.

I’m planning on a 9 day trip in August, so I can see how many points will fill the map that week ;)

So, do you set it to update your position every so often or is it preset?

  • IntrepidXJ Says:

If you turn on the tracking (you do not have to have it on), it sends out an update every 10 minutes for 24 hours. After 24 hours you need to turn it on again. There is no way to change how often it sends out updates.
